Lake basin management in northern Vietnam

Research Center for Environmental Quality Management, Department of Environmental Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering
Place of stay: Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Vietnam
Term: February 2 – March 13, 2011
I did my research activity in Vietnam and its main objective was to collect the data including GIS data and water quality monitoring data for my research on the application of hydrological and water quality models to manage lake basins in northern Vietnam. I visited Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE), Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology as well as Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and presented my research along with the application of the above mentioned models that had been applied in America, Kenya, Japan, Korea, etc., with some Directors of Centers, Policy-makers, Professors of administrative Agencies. And I received positive comments, suggestions and feedbacks from them for my research. After that, I collected the necessary data that were provided by Center and Institutes under MONRE.
Also during my stay in Vietnam, I participated in the KU-HU International Symposium on Environmental Management-3rd Symposium of Kyoto University EML Program- held in Hue city, Vietnam. There I had a good opportunity to meet professors and researchers both from Japan and Vietnam, who indicated their interest in my research.
