Outline

The 3rd GSGES Global COE Workshop in FY2009 was held at Institute for Environmental Science and Technology, Hanoi University of Technology on March 9th, 2010. The purpose of this workshop is to share research activities, especially Vietnam-related researches in “Human Security Engineering” related fields, to exchange information among Global COE members and overseas-base / relevant- organization researchers, and to foster future collaborative research activities.

Report

After the introduction of this workshop by Prof. Shigeo Fujii, three presentations were given on research results by two universities in Vietnam, the Hanoi University of Technology and the Da Nang University of Technology, among which, two were presented by researchers in the former university and one was done by the latter. Then introduction of key research activities was done by a university in China, the Tsinghua University. Each presentation was followed by active discussion. The workshop was continued by eight reports on research activities and research results from Kyoto University. Through the workshop, various researches related to Vietnam, Japan and other Asian countries were understood amongst participants. Following the presentation and discussion session was the visit to GCOE Hanoi Base office and laboratory in HUT. This workshop was closed with lunch among participants offering the Kyoto University professors a chance to strengthen the ties with the researchers of the overseas bases. The workshop was completed with great success.
