Outline

The purpose of workshop on strategy of China-Japan Environmental Engineering Joint Research -GCOE 2nd Workshop in Beijing- is to promote the organization-basis collaboration of research and education between Tsinghua University and Kyoto University.

Report

In the workshop, Keynote speakers, Associate Prof. Duan LEI, Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, Tsinghua University and Prof. Minoru YONEDA, Department of Environmental Engineering, Kyoto University, would present the achievement and prospective of collaboration between Tsinghua University and Kyoto University, including their research projects and educational program in the GCOE Program Human Security Engineering in Asian Mega Cities.
Then, Prof. Hiroaki TANAKA, Leader of Shenzhen overseas base in Kyoto University GCOE-HSE Program, gave an explanation of this program in addition to the objectives and purpose of this workshop. In the first day, eight speakers from Kyoto University and nine speakers from Tsinghua University would make the introduction of their research projects.
In the second day, we should share our time for group discussion on our prospective collaboration in research and education related to environmental engineering between Tsinghua University and Kyoto University from the viewpoint of four research topics, 'Resource Recovery and Recycling in Urban Metabolism System', 'Urban Water Cycle System Management', 'Watershed and Risk Management', and 'Climate Change and Low Carbon Society'. Then, we would exchange the achievements of group discussion, and came to the same understanding to the future activities for China–Japan Environmental Engineering Joint Research.
