Outline
The opening workshop of "GSGES Research Exchange Workshop of Southeast Asian Students" was held at Conference Room, 2F, Red Brick Building of Civil Engineering, Kyoto University on October 20 (Thu), 2011. On the occasion of short term visit of three (Malaysian, Thai, Vietnamese) JSPS students in GSGES, a workshop was held to promote Research Exchange between them and GSGES students, especially for Southeast Asian students.
Report
Together with 7 faculty members and staffs plus 27 students from GSGES, participants were as follows: one professor, one associate professor, two assistant professors, a lecturer, two postdoctoral researchers, 3 JSPS students, 15 doctoral students, 2 master students and 3 research students. The first session started by the presentation from JSPS students. Three JSPS students who were doing their one month training in GSGES, Kyoto University, presented about their research and activities in Kyoto. The JSPS students are Suwasan Sudasaeng from Thailand, Ngo Thi Ngoc Thuy from Vietnam and Koh Fui Pin from Malaysia.
The second session included three presentations from current GSGES doctoral students in Kyoto University. The session started from a presentation by Nurul Aini Binti Kamaruddin and followed by Noralene Uy and the last presenter was Chau Lan Nguyen. The valuable discussion on their researches and activities had been done throughout the workshop. The ceremony of presenting certificate of EML short-term course to JSPS students was held with closing remarks from Assoc. Prof. Rajib Shaw. This workshop was closed with great success.
