Outline
The 4th international conference on water supply management system and social capital was held on July 16-17 2012, at Hasanuddin University, Indonesia. The objectives of the conference are to seize current situation and diverse perspectives, to explore the complexity of water usage, and to discuss new concepts and paradigms in water resources management and sustainable development schemes regarding to social capital. On the first day, Vice President of Hasanuddin University, Prof. Danang A. Suriamiharaja opened the conference. Prof. K. Kobayashi and Prof. G. Ray addressed their keynote speeches on “Discourse Theory and Normative Evaluation of Public Debate” and ”Collective Action in Local Resource Management” for supporting water management and for understanding diverse perceptions. The 4th conference fluently transpired along two days with total presentation of the 20 excellent speakers and about 100 participants from various research fields.
Report
At the 4th conference, the participants have showed excellent achievements of the issue of their respective research fields such as political and technical problems regarding social capital on water usage in each country and common issues in the entire Asian region, through the comparative analysis among Asian countries. Among the achievements from the 4th conference series which have been held from 2009-2012 in Bandung, Surabaya, Malang and Makassar, high quality papers will be selected and put in a paper compilation book. The compilation book can be regarded as the final output of the international conferences.
