Management and Planning Systems Laboratory, Division of Urban Systems Planning, Department of Urban Management, Graduate School of Engineering
Place of stay: University of Transport and Communications, Hanoi, Vietnam
Term: August 27, 2011 – September 27, 2011
Traffic congestion is now becoming an extremely serious problem in the Capital city of Vietnam. The main objective of my internship program was to conduct a survey for the current traffic demand forecasting work in Hanoi and also to collect necessary data for this task.
During an one-month Internship, through discussions with Professors, Specialists of University of Transport and Communications (UTC) and other institutions on the general traffic problems of Hanoi, the transportation planning projects which have been conducted for the city and the demand forecasting methods to be utilized in this task, I have received precious information about Hanoi's current traffic situation, transport network of the city in future and meaningful comments for my research. In the Internship, attending the Transportation Planning course in the Joint Training Course between Kyoto University and UTC also gave me chance to meet researchers and practitioners from Asian countries on the Transportation Planning and Public Private Partnership issues.
The Internship program really brought me valuable information and meaningful experience to my research in the future.
