Quantitative Microbial Risk Assessment of Drinking Water

Urban Sanitary Engineering Laboratory, Division of Environmental Systems Engineering, Department of Environmental Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering
Place of stay: The 21st KAIST-KU-NTU-NUS Symposium on Environmental Engineering (Malaysia), NE Water Center, National University of Singapore (Singapore)
Term: July 12, 2012 - July 18, 2012
The main objective of my internship was to attend the 21st KAIST-KU-NTU-NUS Symposium on Environmental Engineering held in Kuala Lumpur city, Malaysia. The purpose of this symposium was to exchange latest information on environmental engineering researches among the four universities. It was a good way to accumulate the knowledge and communicate with researchers from other universities. In the symposium, I presented my research with the topic of “Concentration interpolation method for data below detection limit in Quantitative Microbial Risk Assessment” and received quite a lot instructive suggestions and comments.
After the symposium, I left Malaysia for Singapore. During my staying in Singapore, I visited Water Hub, NEWater Center and National University of Singapore. I saw the current water environmental situation in Singapore and learned how they treat water and wastewater there. Through this internship, I got valuable chance to broaden my knowledge with the latest technologies and informations about how to maintain and develop water supply and recycling systems with the increasing population and the accelerating urbanization.
