Outline
Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies (GSGES) is expected to contribute this Global COE in terms of education and research. This is the first workshop related to the Global COE in GSGES. Inviting several overseas participants, this workshop aimed at exchanging information, considering the cooperative framework, networking overseas counterparts through the presentation and discussion of individual research project plans in GSGES.
Report
Together with 15 faculty members and students of Kyoto University, six overseas researchers participated to this workshop: Associate Prof. Huynh Trung Hai (Director, Institute for Environmental Science and Technology) and Associate Prof. Pham Thanh Huy (Vise dean, Hanoi Advanced School of Science and Technology) of Hanoi University of Technology as participants from this Global COE overseas base, Prof. Chongrak Polprasert of Asian Institute of Technology, Lecturer Narin Boontanon of Mahidol University, Lecturer Hoang Hai of Danang University Technology, and Lecturer Edy Tonnizam bin Mohama of Universiti Techonologi Malaysia. After explanation on the overall purpose of GSGES for this Global COE by Prof. Fujii, nine research plans were presented and actively discussed. Most of the participants joined the lunch party after the workshop. Through these, participants understand their research topics each other, leading to a stronger human network. Thus, this workshop was closed with great success.
