Outline

The Sixth International Conference on Multi-national Joint Ventures for Construction Works was held at Kyoto International Community House on September 22-23, 2010. The conference aims to promote research and development and to provide an international platform for practitioners and researchers to discuss various subjects in the area of multinational joint ventures.

Report

The conference started with two keynote speeches. Prof. Wang Shouqing firstly explained the risk allocation rules in PPP or PFI projects in China. Another Keynote speaker, Prof. Khairuddin Abdul Rashid introduced the presence and extent of contractors sub-contracting their works to sub-contractors, and threw light on the motivation behind the practice.
In the conference, more than 40 participants, who came from Malaysia, Australia and Japan, exchanged opinions related to the management of multi-national joint ventures for construction works from the point of view of project scheme, dispute resolution, project management, project governance and Public Private Partnership (PPP).
All the papers presented during this seminar are included in the seminar’s proceedings titled “Towards New Paradigm of Partnership for the Increasing Global Construction Markets”. The next seminar will be held in 2011 in Bandung, Indonesia.
