Outline
The 3rd international conference on water supply management system and social capital was held on February 21-22 2011, at Brawijaya University, Indonesia in order to seize current situation and perspectives of each country, to explore the complexity of water usage as priceless social capital, and to discuss new concepts and paradigms in water resources management and sustainable development schemes. On the first day, Prof. Ifar Subagiyo opened the conference with gong. Prof. K. Kobayashi and Asep Karsidi addressed their keynote speeches on "The Role of Voluntary Association", and "The Role of Geospatial Data" for supporting water management. On the second day, Prof. Gautam Ray gave his keynote speech on "Access to Social Capital and Sustainable Development: An Analaytical Perspective." The 3rd workshop fluently transpired along two days with total presentation of the 42 excellent speakers and about 300 participants from various research topics related to water supply management system and social capital cases of Indonesia as well as Asian countries.
Report
At the 3rd conference, the participants have showed excellent achievements of the issue of their respective research fields such as political and technical problems regarding social capital on water usage in each country and common issues in the entire Asian region, through the comparative analysis among Asian countries. The next fourth workshop will be held at Hasanuddin University, Makasar, Indonesia on May 2012. Participants on deepening research collaboration in the future Workshops.
