Outline
The Special Lectures between Kyoto University - ITB which has been held on March 27th, 2012 at ITB, Bandung, was the preliminary lectures activity on “Kyoto University Disaster Resilient Countries Project” at ASEAN Alliance Universities. This seminar activity was presented as part of the “CAMPUS Asia Support for the Formation of a Core Center” under the MEXT 2011 “Re-Inventing Japan University Project” on the “Consortium of International Development for Construction of Disaster Resilient Countries”. The purpose of this seminar activity was to develop the education program focusing on Disaster Risk Mitigation/Recovery/Reconstruction among ASEAN Alliance Universities and Kyoto University.

The special lectures activity on 27 March 2012 at ITB, Bandung, was organized by Institut Teknologi Bandung, Kyoto University, Global COE Program “Global Center for Education and Research on Human Security Engineering for Asian Megacities”, and Consortium for International Human Resource Development towards the Reconstruction of Disaster-Resilient Countries. A large number of students have attended the seminar. They were undergraduate, masters, and doctoral students from some departments in ITB. Seminar was also attended by several lecturers from ITB and practitioners from Meteorological Climatological and Geophysical Agency. There were 8 presentations which was attended by 127 participants.
The seminar was opened by Prof. Wawan Gunawan A. Kadir. He welcomed all the participants and introduced the international cooperation program of ITB, including On Going Exchange Education Program with Foreign University.
After the opening session, there were lecture sessions. In this seminar activity, there were 6 lecturers from ITB and Kyoto University which have given several presentations relating to "Development for Construction of Disaster Resilient Countries". The lecturers were Dr. Krishna Pribadi (ITB), Dr. Hiroyuki Goto (Kyoto Univ), Prof. Sri Widiyantoro (ITB), Dr. Shinichiro Onda (Kyoto Univ), Dr. Tomoki Shiotani (Kyoto Univ), and Prof. Hirotaka Kawano (Kyoto Univ).
In the first of the lecture sessions, Dr. Krishna Pribadi presented “Introduction to Disaster Management in Indonesia”. Dr. Hiroyuki Goto presented “Introduction to Earthquake Engineering - in order to Understand the Seismic Hazard during 2011 Tohoku Earthquake”. Prof. Sri Widiyantoro presented “Seismicity and Subduction Zone Structure beneath the Indonesian Region”. Dr. Shinichiro Onda presented “Introduction to Hydraulics and River Engineering”. Dr. Tomoki Shiotani presented “Infra-Asset Management”. The last lecturer was Prof. Hirotaka Kawano who presented “Disaster Recovery”. There were questions & answers session at the end of each lecture session.
Finally, the special lectures activity was closed by Prof. Nanang T. Puspito. The special lecture activity has been successfully carried out. ITB will fully support the future collaboration with ASEAN Alliance Universities, especially on the “Consortium of International Development for Construction of Disaster Resilient Countries”.
