The Guest Lectures which has been held on September 11th, 2012 at ITB, Bandung, was the seminar activity presented as part of the implementation of the collaborative research among ITB, Kyoto University, Pertamina UTC, and PT Pertamina on “Pilot Study for Carbon Sequestration and Monitoring in Gundih Area, Central Java Province, Indonesia”. The purpose of this seminar activity was to introduce the concept of BOCM (Bilateral Offset Credit Mechanism), CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) and Carbon Credit related to socialization of “Carbon Emission Reduction Program”.

The guest lectures activity on 11 September 2012 at ITB, Bandung, was organized by Institut Teknologi Bandung, Kyoto University, Global COE Program “Global Center for Education and Research on Human Security Engineering for Asian Megacities”, and PT Asia Carbon Indonesia. A large number of students have attended the seminar. They were students from Undergraduate Proram in Geophysical Engineering and Magister Program in Geothermal Technology of ITB. Seminar was also attended by several lecturers from ITB and practitioners from PT. MEDCO E&P INDONESIA. There were 2 presentations which was attended by 45 participants.
The seminar was opened by Dr. Mohammad Rachmat Sule (Lecturer from Geophysical Engineering of ITB). He welcomed all the participants and introduced the presenters. After the opening session, there were lectures sessions. In this seminar activity, there were 2 guest lecturers from PT. Asia Carbon Indonesia and Kyoto University which have given several presentations relating to the concept of BOCM, CDM and Carbon Credit. The lecturers were Mrs. Susy M. Simarangkir (Executive Director - PT Asia Carbon Indonesia) and Prof. Toshifumi Matsuoka (Professor of Environment and Resource System Engineering Laboratory, Department of Urban Management - Kyoto University). In the first of the lecture session, Mrs. Susy M. Simarangkir presented “Introduction on Carbon Emission Reduction Program”.
In this session, she also presented the Clean Development Mechanism, Voluntary Emission Reduction, Carbon Market, and Carbon Emission Reduction Program Beyond 2012. Whereas in the second of the lecture session, Prof. Toshifumi Matsuoka presented “Bilateral Offset Credit Mechanism”. In his lecture, he explained purpose of the BOCM, implementation approaches, scheme & procedure of the BOCM, and comparison between the proposed BOCM and the CDM. There were questions & answers session at the end of each lecture session.
Finally, the guest lectures activity was closed by Dr. Mohammad Rachmat Sule. The guest lectures activity has been successfully carried out. Participant's interest on the topic of "Carbon Emission Reduction Program" can be seen in their enthusiasm to ask / discuss with presenters. Intensive discussion was also carried out after the presenters finalized their lectures.
