Urban Infrastructure design and urban Coast Design, Department of Civil and Earth Resource Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering
Place of stay: Universiti Sains Malaysia
Term: August 27, 2011 – September 26, 2011
The main objective of this internship is to collect the data about Malaysia citizen behavior, topography of new study area and population distribution in Teluk Batik beach. The one month period for data collection program in Malaysia, which is divided into two parts had been performed. The first part is containing the gathering process of topography information, seafloor information and population distribution information at Teluk Batik beach. The second part is to make the analysis of walking speed for Malaysian citizen by using the videotape image. The purpose of those data is to replace the original data that used in previous paper (walking speed) and added the new calculation (drag force) in CBS-DE model. Through these internship activities, the investigation of evacuation process against Tsunami in Malaysia is progressed steadily. Aside that, the internship program gave me a good chance to deal with external parties during the process of data collection. Careful planning must be done to ensure that the data collection process is running smoothly.
