Participation at the 4th International Disaster and Risk Conference (IDRC Davos 2012), which brought together 956 participants from more than 100 countries, provided the author an opportunity to present her research on “An Ecosystem-based Resilience Analysis of Infanta, Quezon, Philippines” at the session, ‘Ecosystem based Approaches and Engineering Measures’ and get feedback and suggestions from different sectors, stakeholders and end-users involved in risk reduction, disaster management, and resilience building. In addition, it gave the author the opportunity to participate at the sessions on Environment and Disaster Risk Reduction: Moving from Theory to Practice and Local Actions and Community Empowerment which strategically and operationally discussed such important topics related to the author’s research as ecosystem-based adaptation and disaster risk reduction, community participation and theory to action-oriented agenda. Moreover, it was a venue to jointly discuss, assess and disseminate new approaches and solutions for integrative risk and disaster management allowing for transfer of knowledge among participants.
