Number of attendants: 20
We invited a professor of Hunan University and engineers of Shenzhen Water Group. Two themes (“The actual conditions and efforts about water service technology”, and “Tohoku district–off the Pacific Ocean Earthquake”) were explained by Japanese participants. The main purpose of this seminar was to deepen the advancement of water treatment technology and exchanges between Japan and Southern China through the discussion.
In the first session, “Actual conditions and issues of water treatment technology in Japan" was explained by Prof. Itoh. Main focuses of this presentation were advanced water treatment process, changes in drinking water needs and future plans of water treatment plant. Next, Research topics of our laboratory (“Control of chlorinous odor”, “Microbiological stability”, “Microbiological risk assessment” and “New Water Reuse System using Urban Aquifer with Advanced Risk Management”) were presented by Assoc. Prof. Echigo. A keen discussion regarding water quality standard for drinking water and actual conditions of water reuse system in Japan was carried out after these presentations.
In the second session, “Recovery and Reconstruction in Water Sector from the 2011 Tohoku Disaster and Water Treatment Technologies” was presented by Assoc. Prof. Hirayama. Finally, ”Adaptation of emergency water treatment plants in the Great East Japan Earthquake and future provisions for earthquake disaster” was presented by Prof. Itoh. From the Chinese delegation, issues regarding the calculation technique of the number of pipelines damaged by the East Japan great earthquake, and the adaptation cost of the membrane process were discussed.
A fruitful discussion regarding the future plan of water technology, and countermeasures against disaster between two countries carried out through this seminar. With this seminar we were able to build an even better relationship between Japan and Southern China.
