Study on Hydrological Simulation of Red River Basin, Vietnam

Regional Water Environment Systems, Division of Urban Regional Disaster Control, Department of Urban Management, Graduate School of Engineering
Place of stay: 5th Asia Pacific Association of Hydrology and Water Resources (APHW), Vietnam; Water Resource University, Vietnam
Term: November 7 – November 21, 2010
The primary aim of my internship was to collect data on the Red River Basin, which is the case study for my PhD research.
The fifth APHW conference held in Vietnam allowed me to present my paper "Geostatistical Bias Correction of Super High Resolution GCM outputs under Climate Change and its application to Runoff Simulations in Red River Basin". The feedbacks for my presentation were very valuable for achieving a high quality research. In addition to collecting relevant data, the interaction with researchers and academicians at Water Resources University in Vietnam was also quite beneficial. Through this interaction I was able to broaden my network of researchers. In a nutshell, the internship program can be regarded as one of the greatest supports in my research. It was a remarkable learning experience for me. It helped me grow as a researcher and work in a different culture.
This experience will enable me to conduct researches in different fields in the near future.
